One Springtime activity in Atlanta that you can’t miss is to go strawberry picking. There are a few different farms that you can do this at but my absolute favorite place to go Strawberry Picking near Atlanta is at Southern Belle Farms. Spread out across 12 acres, there is plenty of room for everyone to come visit during the week/weekend. The peak strawberry picking time is late April through the end of May. I always look forward to taking my small kids here. First thing we done upon arriving is grabbing a bucket and go pick strawberries (and eat a few while on the job!). The strawberries here are SO SO good. They practically melt in your mouth. If you aren’t really up for the physical work of picking strawberries, you can also just pay for a bucket of pre-picked strawberries…but half the fun of going to the farm is to pick your own bucket (am I right?!?).
After we’ve filled up our strawberry buckets, we head over to the kid activity zone. There are so many fun things to do. My kid’s favorite activity was probably going down the giant slide over, and over and over again. But there are also peddle go-karts (and even if your kiddo can’t peddle yet, an adult can easily push the go-kart instead). There’s also 2 giant jumping pads, some outdoor puzzles, and a petting zoo.
The last stop at Southern Belle farm is of course the store. Here you can buy freshly made strawberry shortcake or strawberry ice-cream. They also have a grill that you can grab lunch at (burgers, hot dogs, etc). Their store also sells other produce, lots of jams, nuts, pound cake, etc.
Even if you don’t have kids, I think going to pick strawberries would be fun for any age. My advice is to get there as soon as it opens to avoid having to wait in a super long line to go pick strawberries. I’ve always been impressed with how friendly the staff are too. Southern Belle is located near McDonough and you can find more information on their website (https://www.southernbellefarm.com/)
