Why I Love Septemeber in Atlanta

One of the many reasons that I enjoy living in Atlanta is all the local events that take place. Piedmont Park Festival September in Atlanta is a busy month packed full of fun things to do.  I don’t know about you, but as Fall weather starts to settle in, I get excited to be outside and enjoy the food, festivals, music, and gathering with fellow neighbors and friends.  I thought I’d share with you the numerous events happening this month and hope you find a few (or a dozen!) events that you will particpate in.  I’ve limited my list to events taking place ITP to keep the list a bit more concise, but know that there are many other fun events taking place OTP (like the Duluth Fall Festival, Kennesaw Craft Beer Festival, and Pumpkin Festival in Stone Mountain)

Art on the Beltline Lantern Parade :: 7PM-10PM @ East Side Beltline Trail
Hold up a glowing light, listen to music, and walk along the 2 mile beltine starting at the beltine’s current terminus of Irwin St (near Krog Street) and ending at Park Tavern in Piedmont Park.
Great Atlanta Beer Festival :: 3PM-8PM @ Turner Field
For you beer enthusiasts, this event is for you.  Sample over 150+ beers (and even a small selection of wines and ciders will be available) while enjoying live music and watching football on a large 33 foot TV.
Midtown Restaurant Week ::
For all you foodies out there, this is a great time to try out some of the restaurants in Midtown at an affordable price!  Get a prix fixe meal for $15-$35 at participating restaurants (4th & Swift, Article 14, Abattoir, Ecco, Lure, ONE Midtown Kitchen are just a few examples)
PGA Tour Championship ::  East Lake Golf Club
If you are a PGA golf fan, head over to the East Lake Golf Club where you can watch top professional golfers compete for the FedExCup.
Jazoo (Party at the Zoo) ::  6:30PM-11PM @ Atlanta Zoo
Spend an evening enjoying a full open bar, food from 30 Atlanta restaurants, and live music in a unique, exotic backdrop of the Atlanta Zoo (located in Grant Park).  The best part is that proceeds from the event will support Zoo Atlanta’s Animal Enrichment and Conservation Programs.  It’s a great excuse to wine and dine and support the animals!
Atlanta Arts Festival :: 10AM-7PM (Sat) & 10AM-5PM (Sun) @ Piedmont Park
Stroll along the Active Oval in Piedmont Park and browse the booths full of art from artists both local and across the country.  Of course, there will be food and drinks to enjoy.
Georgia Tech vs Georgia Southern :: 12 PM @ Georgia Tech Bobby Dodd Stadium
Tailgate and then head out to cheer on the yellow jackets play football against Georgia Southern.  This weekend is also deemed Family Weekend at Georgia Tech.
Movies & Beer :: 7:30PM-10:30PM @ Fourth Ward Skatepark Field
This will be the 5th year of the Movies & Beer event that benefits the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition.  Sample a variety of beer (Yuzu Berlinerweiss, FOCOllaboration IPA, Snapshot Wheat, Gruit, Gratzer to name a few) and watch short films in the skatepark field.  Dogs are welcome to come too!
Music Midtown :: 4PM-11PM (Fri) & 12PM-11PM (Sat) @ Piedmont Park
The ever-popular music event is back at Piedmont Park and the musical line-up just keeps getting better and better each year.  The park will be PACKED with music fans enjoying talented artists including John Mayer, Lorde, Iggy Azalea, Zac Brown Band, Eminem, and more!
Inman Park Restaurant Week ::
If the Midtown Restaurant week earlier in the month wasn’t enough, keep trying another selection of restaurants featuring excellent restaurants located in Inman Park.  Examples include: Wisteria, Il Localino, Parish, Sotto Sotto, Rathbun’s, and more.
Kirkwood Wine Stroll :: 6:30 PM-11PM @ Historic Kirkwood Neighborhood
Enjoy listening to the Beatles’ tribute band Abbey Road while tasting wines from around the world at over 30 pouring stations.
