If you are searching for a deal, try Medlock Park as one of your options. When I say “deal” I don’t mean that you can buy a house today and flip it and sell for $100’s of thousands of dollars more in a mere couple of months. What I mean by “deal” is that Medlock Park will provide homes that aren’t going to break the wallet yet still be located ITP and within a reasonable driving distance to major attractions.
Medlock Park isn’t super glamorous in the fact that it doesn’t really have shopping or restaurants in the neighborhood itself. Instead, it is a pretty basic neighborhood filled with ranch and cottage style homes. However, the prices of these homes are in the $200-$300K range, which these days is getting harder and harder to find in many of the intown neighborhoods. In fact, just over this Spring of 2016, I’ve personally seen a home priced in the $210K range with 2 beds/1 bath and just over 1,000 sq ft home get 10 offers on it! I think that is a pretty good indicator of the demand for an affordable home.
Here are 3 things that I like about Medlock Park:
1) Affordability
Homes range in the $200-$300K. Don’t expect mansions in this area, although occasionally you will find a slightly bigger home. Expect small cottage or ranch style homes with anywhere from 1,000-1,700 sq ft. The streets are quiet, peaceful, and filled with friendly neighbors.
2) Located ITP
Medlock Park is very close to popular intown areas such as Decatur and Emory/Druid Hills AND it’s getting more and more retail nearby (Sprouts is coming soon plus Wal-Mart, HomeGoods, Starbucks, and a few other stores just opened up at the corner of North Decatur and Scott Blvd).
3) The Park!
Medlock Park does indeed have a nice park called, you guessed it, Medlock Park! It’s complete with a playground, baseball fields, and a swimming pool.
