Just southeast of Downtown is the rejuvenated neighborhood of Summerhill. Summerhill, once home to the Atlanta 1996 Olympics and the Atlanta Braves experienced stalled growth and surprisingly could never quite come together and create the potential thriving neighborhood it could be...until the early 2020's. Once abandoned storefronts along Georgia Ave is now home to trendy restaurants such as Big Frosty, Little Bear, Halway Crooks Beer, Woods Chapel BBQ, and Hero Doughnuts (to name a few). The old Brave's stadium was acquired by Georgia State and serves as their athletic stadium. Summerhill is filled with bungalow homes and more and more newer townhome options and new construction. More apartment complexes have been built here to provide housing options for Georgia State University students as well. Summerhill is now a much more walkable neighborhood and while it does not border the Atlanta Beltline, it is within .6-1.5 miles to the closest access point, depending on where you are coming from. More millennials and first time home buyers are choosing Summerhill as their neighborhood to call home.
