It’s finally here!  This Saturday is the ever-popular Chomp and Stomp in Cabbagetown. Enjoy live music, booze, and remember to bring $5 for a spoon to sample chili from both individuals and restaurants who are all competing to be the Top Chili Connoisseur.  But, if eating all that chili and drinking a bunch of beer makes you feel a bit guilty, hopefully you signed up to do the Romp 5K run at 8AM to burn off a few calories before indulging.  I really enjoy running and am sad to see that the race is already filled up.  Perhaps I can participate next year!

The chili tastings will start at 12:30, but get there EARLY as it gets PACKED!!  If you aren’t familiar with the Cabbagetown area, it is a very small neighborhood and last year there were over 22,000 visitors!  Parking is very limited so if you live near the area, walk or bike over there.  If you live further away, there are a few other commuting options such as Marta and a trolley bus service.  See here for commuting options.

While you are there, take in the sights around the Cabbagetown area including the Krog Street Tunnel, the Oakland Cemetary just to the west, and the ever popular Stacks Lofts (which used to be an old Cotton Mill, in case you didn’t know).  Wondering what homes are for sale in the area?  Well, there’s not a whole lot.  The residents there love their neighborhood and there are only FOUR homes for sale.  See Cabbagetown homes for sale here.
Enjoy the festival which starts at 11AM and ends at 6PM.  The weather is looking like it will be nice and sunny but dress warmly and maybe drink in some liquid warmth to keep you all fuzzy and warm…the high’s are only in the upper 50’s which will feel real chilly as we’ve had much milder weather earlier this week.
