Atlanta Neighborhood Tips

Little Free Library Atlanta

Over the past month, I’ve come across some little tidbits of local Atlanta information that I thought I’d share.  Perhaps you already know all of this and it’s old news, but I know some of us ignore or forget all these little Atlanta neighborhood tips that make our Atlanta communities great!

3 Atlanta Neighborhood Tips:

Little Free Library AtlantaLittle Free Library

Are you ever on a walk and happen to see one of these cute boxes that look a bit like a bird house?  Take a closer look and you’ll see that they have books in them, free for anyone to take.  It’s a completely free program and anyone can install one in their yard if they so choose.  The concept is pretty simple – “Take a book, leave a book.”  What a great way to share books with local neighbors and perhaps meet a few new neighbors in the process!  I’ve already donated some of my old books and am going to remember to hit up these little libraries next time I need a fun read for the beach.  You can read more about all the details of this program and where to find a “little free library” in your neighborhood HERE.

Recycle for RewardsRecycle for Rewards

I just recently learned that starting in September, you can now get awarded points for each time you put your recycling bin out during your local Atlanta recycling day.  Who would want to pass up on being rewarded for doing something good for our environment?  Simply sign up online using this link (https://recyclingperks.com).  Quick hint: You have to input your recycling bin sku # which is found on the opposite side of the handlebars.  (I felt like a dummy the first time I was trying to hunt for the sku # as it took me forever to find it.  Lucky for you, I’ve posted a picture to demonstrate where to locate it and save you some time).

NextDoor.comConnect with your neighborhood on NextDoor.com

A wonderful social website I have fallen in love with is NextDoor.com.  Simply sign up for your local neighborhood and get plugged in with your neighbors.  It’s a great way to post things you have for sale, get suggestions on contractors, dentists, day cares, restaurants, or post just about anything going on in your neighborhood.  I’ve even seen people post an item that they found accidentally dropped in front of their house and was able to reunite it to the owner.  It’s basically like facebook but designed specifically for residents of any Atlanta neighborhood to connect with fellow neighbors.  Go to www.nextdoor.com to get signed up!
