What to do with your kids on a rainy day in Atlanta? I know that as a parent, it can be hard to try keep your kid busy on those rainy days. Sometimes, you just need to get out of the house on a cold or rainy day so your kid can burn off some energy (and so you can keep your sanity). Here are a few indoor options to try in Atlanta on a rainy day:

Indoor Jumping!
Scattered throughout Atlanta are many bounce houses. Some are more suitable for older kids while others are best for the toddlers. Here are a few of my favorite:
- Catch Air – This is great for the, say, 8 and under crowd. It can be a little rough if you have a kid under 3 years of age or so, but there is a designated young toddler area to keep out the older kids (although those rules are really not enforced). Catch Air has several locations including Midtown (off of Amsterdam Rd near Piedmont Park) and Sandy Springs. Price per kid depends on age ($7 or $11) and adults are free
- HippoHop – This is a great space for the 3 and under crowd. Lots of toys and things to jump on. Plus, it’s only $5/kid and adults are free.
- Leapin’ Lizards – Filled with lots of inflatable slides and jumping pits, this is probably better for the slightly older kids. Children 2 and under are $5, kids 3-10 are $8, and adults are free.
- Get Air Stone Mountain – This is not just for kids but fun for adults too. This is a giant trampoline park so it can get a little crazy but there are spots for the younger toddlers to play in too. Price is per hour ($14 for 1 hr or $22 for 2 hrs)

Atlanta Children’s Museum
This is super interactive for the kiddos. I’d say it’s best to wait until your kid is actually walking so they can really wander around. This museum has a ton of activities that are hands-on — a pretend Waffle House kitchen, grocery store, sand box, a fishing area, and a giant climbing cube. Parents, no need to bring a stroller as the facility isn’t so huge that you’ll be walking forever and ever. (There is a place to park them however if you do bring one). Cost is $15.95 per person (kids 1 and under are free). Hint – if you think you’ll enjoy going back again and again, it would be worthwhile to buy a season pass.

Fernbank Museum
Head up onto the 3rd floor of the Fernbank Museum to play in the popular tree house! This is great for kids, say ages 2-8. Let your kids climb up the tree trunk and cross a bridge suspended over the play area while being immersed with nature-themed lessons scattered throughout the room. My daughter especially loves doing the underwater sea puzzle tree. The Fernbank Museum also features different nature-inspired movies throughout the year. Also, go back on a day when it isn’t raining to enjoy the outdoor nature trail & playground. Cost is $20 for adults (ages 13+), children $18 (ages 3-12), kids 2 and under are free. Hint – if you think you’ll enjoy going back again and again, it would be worthwhile to buy a season pass.

Center for Puppetry Arts
Take your kid to a puppet show. I was so skeptical about this place, thinking it was going to be a cheesy puppet show but I have to give credit where credit is due — the Center for Puppetry Arts has legit puppet shows. Take your kid through the museum – my daughter loved seeing the Sesame Street characters like Big Bird and Elmo.
