If you are planning on selling your home soon, we all know that your home’s curb appeal is the first thing buyers will notice when pulling up to the home. I’ve even had instances where my buyers pull up to a house but immediately change their mind of going inside a home just because of lackluster curb appeal. As a seller, it’s sometimes overwhelming on knowing what exactly to do with the exterior of a home to give it a little facelift (without breaking the bank). Here are 4 inexpensive (and easy!) ways to boost your home’s curb appeal:

1) Fresh Mulch
Adding mulch or pine straw (a cheaper alternative used a ton in Atlanta) around flower gardens, bushes, and trees can really make a lawn stand out. Fresh mulch can be used to create eye-catching curves along the yard and help make a yard look manicured. It’s a simple landscaping job that is easy on the wallet.

2) Painted Door
Painting the front door of a house a unique or fun color can draw buyers into the home. Using a vibrant color such as blue, yellow, or red (as an example) can really add some interest to the home and is as simple as a few coats of paint and a few hours of your time. Just remember to add a fun *pop* of color (but don’t cross over into tacky!)

3) Potted Flowers
Run to your local Home Depot, Lowe’s, or Ace Hardware to buy some pretty flowers and colorful planters. The use of some pretty planters filled with the season’s flowers draws the eye in toward the home and gives a happy feeling. During the Spring/Summer months, the options for flowers are pretty much endless! In the Fall/Winter, aim for pansies or mums. Line the steps leading up to the house and around the door with some potted plants. If you don’t have much room for planted flowers, you can at least hang a pretty wreath on the door to welcome buyers inside.

4) Pressure Wash
Pressure washing may be a little bit more labor intensive but it can have a huge payoff. Nobody wants to pull up to a house that has grimy sidewalks and patio spaces. It can make the home feel very unkempt even if the interior is immaculate. A clean patio can help a buyer envision themselves spending time in the outdoor area. Plus, clean hardscapes can really help listing photos stand out.

BONUS TIP!
Ok, so if you have a little extra time, money, and effort (or outsource it to a pro)… PAINT! Painting the window trim and trim around any railings/decks at the minumum can really give the home a fresh look. Also, if you have siding that hasn’t been painted in the last 5 years or so, it may be time for a fresh coat of paint on that to keep it healthy. Plus, it’ll make the home look brighter and not full of dust, cobwebs, or show signs of weathered paint.
